Local Hero: Peter Baker
Peter Baker has been a long-time organizer/chair of Ann Arbor's Dawn Dance Weekend committee. Further, he was the founder and also a long-time organizer of our annual free Dancing In the Streets event where we draw from the locals, students in this university town, as well as the vast number of international folks living here. Peter has been highly involved in our Pittsfield Grange-venue dances.
He was a co-coordinator in the first of the MDH Fall Weekends at Camp Cavell. He is widely connected to the national dance community having called dances throughout. Also, Peter is an avid mentor of new dancers and dance organizers. Moreover, he works unofficially but actively as a consultant to the Board of Directors of The Ann Arbor Community of Traditional Music and Dance (AACTMAD) and he has contributed much more to the community of dance and music than I am capable of citing here.
